DESCRIPTION:Walk the Woods\, Learn About Exemplary Forestry!\nJoin New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) for a scenic and immersive woods walk through the soon-to-be harvested Weeks Memorial Forest in Guilford\, Vermont\, where you’ll learn about sustainable\, climate-smart forestry! This approximately 1.5-hour guided hike will offer an in-depth look at Exemplary Forestry practices\, with a focus on controlling invasive species and improving biodiversity. Ask questions\, explore the landscape\, and discover how NEFF is shaping the future of New England’s forests. This event will take place rain or shine. Please register below if you plan to attend. \nWhat to Expect\n\nModerate Hike: 1 to 1.5 miles through varying terrain\, including well-worn trails\, exposed roots\, branches\, and rocks\nSustained Grades: The hike will include prolonged inclines of up to 10 percent\nExpert Guidance: A licensed forester will explain sustainable\, climate-smart harvesting techniques and answer questions\n\nWho Should Participate?\nThis moderate hike requires participants to be in good physical health and capable of: \n\nWalking up to 1.5 miles over uneven terrain\nNavigating rocks\, roots\, and other natural obstacles\nManaging sustained inclines of up to 10 percent grade\n\nWhat to Bring\n\nLong pants and appropriate clothing (hat\, comfortable hiking boots or shoes)\nInsect repellent (DEET or similar recommended for ticks and mosquitoes)\nWater and snacks (if desired)\nMedically necessary items (EpiPen\, inhaler\, etc.)\n\nImportant Notes\n\nChildren of all ages are welcome but must be supervised\nArrive 10–15 minutes early at the designated parking lot\n\nLearn More and Get Directions\nTo learn more about Weeks Memorial Forest\, visit our Forest Stories webpage.
