GUILFORD CEMETERY COMMISSION

THURSDAY 21 AUGUST 2025

BLANCHARD CEMETERY

Cemetery Commissioners Present:

Nancy Detra, Eric Morse, Carol Schnabel

Absent:

Eric Feindel, Kyle Parker

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 9:40 a.m.

Recognition of Public:

We welcomed Dale Morse.

Approval of Minutes:

The minutes from July were approved as submitted.

Old Business:

Kyle has been communicating with Chuck Mayotte and they plan to look at the tree that needs to be removed.

New Business:

We assessed the condition of the tree in the middle of the cemetery.  The tree looks beautiful until one looks at how much of the trunk has rotted away.  Rory had recently mowed and we all agreed that the cemetery looks great.

We noticed that one grave marker might only be a temporary one and Eric Morse will contact a family member to find out their plans.

The stone for Mary Eliot (died in 1794) has a tree growing around it.

There were many burials from the 1790’s in this cemetery.  We would like to come up with a list of burials at Blanchard Cemetery.  There are a number of Veterans from the American Revolution.

There also are a number of incomplete grave stones (probably discards) that were left at the cemetery but never installed by a gravesite.  We would like to figure out what to do with those.
