GUILFORD CONSERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES 2/20/25
Meeting called to order 5 pm
Present- Linda Hecker, Steve Soszynski, Josh Farr, Bill Jewell, Anne Montgomery, Kate Shea, Karen
Murphy: On Zoom: Susan Bonthron and guest Mary Woolsey Absent Linda Lembke

-December 2024 Minutes approved unanimously December action Steps reviewed
-Town Meeting (3/1/25) plans for a table in the hall next to Planning Commission reviewed
-Joint Planning Commission meeting March 26 with an Emergency Planning/Climate Resilience theme moderated by Meg Mott.
-We will also have a regular monthly meeting on 3/20/25 at 5:30
-Photo Exhibit- Josh Farr to mount photos in groups between windows on second floor of BBCC this weekend. 30 participants, at least 2 photos each. Theme What I Love about Guilford
-Appreciation given to Karen Murphy and Linda Lembke, retiring Commissioners, for their many years of service.
-Currently 7 members on the Commission. New member ideas discussed. Members need to be Full Time residents.
-Weeks Forest Accessibility Project pros and cons reviewed, multiple concerns discussed. Motion made by Bill Jewell NOT to proceed with project due to costs and other challenges. Unanimous agreement by roll call.
-Discussed and adopted Commission priorities for 2025:
-Upgrade communication and document sharing systems
-Communicate with Guilford residents about land stewardship and conservation practices
-Maintain/upgrade Weeks Forest Trail
-Recruit new members, establish orientation routines
-Keep current with proposed state regulations relating to conservation and land use
-Continue to collaborate with other local and regional organizations: Historical Society, Recreation Commission, Trails Committee, Planning Commission; Windham Regional Commission, AVCC
-Beaver Friendly Town discussions underway between L Hecker and Patti Smith
-Archives (maps, books, posters,etc)- temporary storage at L Hecker’s house and possibly Town Office.
-Digital upgrades for communicating and sharing resources offered by Kate Shea
-Meeting adjourned at 6:30
