December 21 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Let There Be Light! A Winter Lights Event Hosted by the Guilford Recreation Commission

Calling all Dreamers, Recreational Enthusiast and Harbingers of Lights. The Guilford Recreational Commission is excited to invite you to participate in a brand-new Winter Lights event for the Winter Solstice on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, at 4:30pm.

Join us as we bring light to the Shortest Day of the year with Lanterns and Illuminated Wooden Sculptures made of scrap wood and reclaimed materials along Guilford Center Road from the Broad Brook Community Center to the Guilford Free Library. We welcome you to bring your own lanterns and illuminated outfits.

The event will begin at 4:30pm with warm drinks, snacks and face painting, around 5pm we will have a guided precession from the BBCC to the Library and back to the BBCC, around 5:30pm we will have shared performances and group singing. Following the Winter Lights event there will be a Bal Folk Dance with Eloise & Co. (upstairs) at 6:30pm.

With so much ambition for this event we can’t pull it off without you.

  1. We are looking for donations of the following materials: Extension cords, Power Cord, and most importantly Christmas Lights!  *Please note that we will accept Christmas Lights that only partially work as long as 50% or more of the lights function. We will also accept battery powered headlamps or lanterns.
  2. We are looking for volunteers interested in making desserts, treats and warm drinks to share at the event
  3. Lastly, we are looking for performers interested in playing music, displaying unique light related talents, performing small skits or reading and sharing poems, spoken word, short stories throughout the event.

If you are interested in donating materials or volunteering in anyway, please reach out to Uriel Najera at townclerk@guilfordvt.gov with the subject “Winter Lights” or call (802)254-6857 x107

Thank you,
