Guilford Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, November 12, 2025, 5:00 pm

I. Recognition of Public: No Public present

II. Call to Order:  Meeting Started at 5:05pm 

III. New Additions:  N/A

IV. Changes to Agenda:  N/A

V. Approval of Minutes:  N/A

VI. Finances: Looking like we won’t be requesting funds for next year currently we have around $6,000 in our budget.

VII. Old Business: 

  • Updates on existing programs (Yoga, Walking Group, Fiber Arts Group)
    • Good Energy with the Fiber Arts Group, currently have 9 consistent members
    • Yoga is going well and the instructor is on board to continue offering the class.
  • Debriefing Trunk or Treat
    • Very good turn out and the kids had lots of fun

VIII. New Business:

  • Planning for Festival of Lights
    • Gazette Article has been published and have had some folks reach out
    • Aiming for a budget of $130’
      • Some folks recommended that we have a budget and this would be a good investment for a recurring event
    • Need help with flyering, Ragan and Meghan will help with flyering
    • Kelsey will be helping coordinate the food and drinks for the day of the event.
    • Might need to coordinate safety procedures  around folks walking up and down Guilford Center Rd to see the light for the event 
    • Adding a singing to the line up of offerings
  • Planning for Meditation Group
    • Ragan, interested in starting a meditation group, wanted to get feedback on where to start.
    • Basic needs are having someone to open the door and turn on and off the heat.
    • There is a desire to have a more community led group.
    • Ragan and Uriel will meet up to discuss more possibilities
  • Joining monthly Swap with the BBCC (for craft supplies and kids sports equipment swaps)
    • The BBCC has asked if the Rec Commission can help with coordinating monthly swaps at the BBCC.
    • Would be helpful if we had a document with all the months and the different Swaps that are being created
    • We agreed we can offer a Craft Supplies Swap in January, Board Game swap in February
  • Spanish Language Group
    • Some residents have expressed a desire for a Spanish Speaking Practice Group.
    • Uriel is interested in helping but not sure they can lead the group. Will create a survey to gauge folks interest.
  • Promotion of our events
    • Posted QR code to the Guilford Gazette was printed very small but we can submit it continuously 
  • Budget for FY 2026
    • Looking like we won’t be requesting funds for next year currently we have around $6,000 in our budget.
    • We would like to have a big look at the budget for next year where we compare expenses over the last five years to have a realistic understanding of how much funding we will need for future years.
  • Writing annual report for the Town
    • Kelsey will share last year’s Rec Commission Report for the Annual Report and we can add things in for this year’s Annual Report.
    • The goal is to review it at our next meeting and finalize it to submit.
