Scoping Study grant update, next steps
-Grant awarded by VTrans, but still needs to be accepted by the Selectboard. Planning to have it on the upcoming Selectboard Meeting Agenda
-Has a $10,000 match that is required, recommend using the ARPA Fund, Town Bond or Capital Fund
-Once accepted we will be assigned a VTrans agent for the specific project.
-This grant is specifically for the scope study and is not dependent on the demonstration project
-The Scope Study Creates an in-depth Engineers Report of the traffic activity and flow of the Algiers district. This will provide factual data that can be used to apply for grants that can support what ever follow up actions the town and Selectboard choose to pursue.
-Sarah Coffey mentioned that a demonstration Project along with the Scoping Project could lead to confusing towns people and unless it is directly linked to the Scoping Project. Also advocates for using the ARPA funds to Match the Scoping Study grant but warns that it is important to clarify with the community the process of how do we fund a potentially next phase of a project. steps
Demonstration Project update, next steps
-Recommend that the Demonstration Project be tabled and to move forward with the Scope Study.
-There is currently no funding for the Demonstration Project
Consider if there are other issues to be addressed
-Bill feels we got suckered on the bridge project by Broad brook RD. There was some misunderstandings on a particular stone piece that isn’t being utilized correctly because it wasn’t installed at the appropriate height.
-Guilford County Store has a parking problem due to bicyclist. Folks are parking in the store parking and leave their cars for hours while they go on bike rides causing overflow of Parking lot.
Putting out and article in the gazette to inform the town about the work that is being down by the Algiers traffic and Calming Committee.
-It would be important to put out a timeline of the Committee’s Activities and timeframe of how long the committee will continue to meet in response to allegations and questions about the Committee.
-First discussion about Algiers Traffic Calming was had in March 19th of this year. The discussion determined that there was a need for a committee to be form to officially advise the Selectboard on approach to the issue. At the following Selectboard Meeting Jeanette requested that a committee be formed, the Selectboard approved and the first official meeting of the Algiers Traffic Calming Committee was held in April of this year.
