GUILFORD CEMETERY COMMISSION MEETING

THURSDAY 19 FEBRUARY 2026  9:30 a.m.

GUILFORD TOWN OFFICE

Cemetery Commissioners Present:

Nancy Detra, Eric Morse, Carol Schnabel

Absent:

Eric Feindel, Kyle Parker

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 9:33 a.m.

Approval of Minutes:

The January minutes were approved as submitted.

Old Business:

911 Addresses:  Jared Bristol said it would be helpful to put the numbers on the cemetery sign posts.  We will ask Kyle whether we can get the numbers from the Fire Department?

Blanchard Tree Removal:  Trustees recommended two new businesses to contact, All About Trees or Arbor Climb. 

Next Gazette deadline is April 1 if we want to submit anything.

New Business:

We reviewed and edited the notes about selecting a gravesite.  Carol will send the trustees the up-dated document. 

We reviewed and edited the contact information for private cemeteries in Guilford.

We reviewed the current regulations for green burials in Vermont.

Nancy is up for re-election and she has agreed to continue on the Cemetery Commission.  Eric will nominate her.

We looked through the cemetery records in the vault in order to familiarize ourselves with them.  There are books of cemetery deeds, as well as books listing Guilford deaths, and others that contain burial permits.
