Meeting Minutes

January 29, 2026 | 6:30–8:00 PM

Town Office, 236 School Road, Guilford, VT (Hybrid)

Commissioners present:
Jeannette, Christina, Jethro, Charles, Nathanael, Marty

Member of the public: Michael Knapp

1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order at 6:33 PM. Quorum confirmed.

2. New Business

2.1 Introduction of Michael Knapp
Michael Knapp was introduced as a potential new member. A motion was made to recommend to the Selectboard that Michael Knapp be appointed to the Planning Commission.

  – Moved by: Marty; Seconded by: Nathanael.
 – Result: All in favor; motion carried (Christina abstained).

2.2 Planning Commission Town Report
The Commission reviewed and edited the Planning Commission’s article for the Town Report. Revisions were agreed upon for submission.

2.3 Municipal Planning Grant Debrief
The Commission discussed lessons learned, improved coordination and communication, and shared responsibility in planning efforts. Future efforts will incorporate clearer communication and internal processes.

2.4 Town Plan Vision – Land Use & Community Dialogue
Discussion included zoning purpose and function, protection of wetlands and natural resources, preservation of rural character, the Commission’s role in facilitating community dialogue, areas for additional public discussion, and potential implications of proposed Act 250 changes. No formal action was taken.

3. Action Items

  – Submit recommendation regarding Michael Knapp.

  – Finalize and submit the article for the Town Report.

  – Continue discussion of land use communication and engagement.

  – Monitor the potential impact of Act 250 changes on Guilford
