 Guilford Conservation Commission Minutes 

April 17,2025 

Meeting called to order 5:35 pm 

Present: Bill Jewell, Steve Soszynski, Josh Farr, Alex Lacy, Kate Shea, Anne Montgomery; Guest- John Marco 

Absent: Linda Hecker, Susan Bonthron 

Introductions made to and by John Marco, who is interested in joining the Commission. 

March minutes approved unanimously. 

March action steps- per L. Hecker, Alex Lacy approved to the Commission by the Selectboard. 

PHOTO EXHIBIT- several options for storage discussed. To leave on display until Ada Brown contacts us. Consider putting in the Commission Google Drive Folder, or on a thumb drive. Consider storing physical photo boards in a closet or disposing of them. 

MONTHLY WALKS- to check list of walks from 2024, such as Governor’s Mountain. Other options- Lilly Pond, Josh’s property to include beaver pond. To finalize next month. 

WEEKS FOREST- work sessions planned for Saturday mornings 

June 14, July 19 and August 16. Alex L. has an ‘extractigator’. 

Briefly discussed options for upgrading parts of the trail, such as the entrance. 

UPDATE- NEFF (New England Forestry Foundation) will be logging next winter; Guilford Trail Committee is working again to extend the ski trail. 

GCC GOOGLE DRIVE- Kate, Linda H and Linda L have been adding information such as maps, walks, publications,etc. 

OTHER- Planning Commission Meeting April 23 6:30 for follow up on the Wash Out Town Meeting last month. All invited. 

– Several Commission members expressed interest in printing additional copies of the NRI. Kate will look into printing costs. 

– 

– Ways to communicate with residents about land stewardship were discussed. A brochure was considered. 

Action Steps- 

1. Josh – add photo exhibit to Google Drive Folder 

2. All- think of possible walks highlighting the NRI blocks. 

3. Kate- printing options for NRI 

4. Anne- contact Susan B. regarding chapter on land stewardship for property owners.
