Meeting Minutes

Cemetery Commissioners Present:

Nancy Detra, Eric Morse, Carol Schnabel

Absent:

Eric Feindel, Kyle Parker

Call to Order:

Commissioners did a variety of clean up work first.  The business part of the meeting was called to order at 10:10 a.m.

Approval of Minutes:

The minutes from our June meeting were approved as submitted.

Old Business:

Tabled until next meeting.

New Business:

Trustees looked at a copy of the cemetery history that the Library owns.  Carol made the copy and will email the digital version to trustees.  Trustees looked at the condition of the cemetery and access. The access has been cleaned up. Eric Morse spoke to the new owner of the abutting property.  The owner is aware that the Town has a right of way and that is fine with him.  There appear to be 14 gravestones that are visible in the cemetery- the oldest (and apparently the first burial) is from 1826- Belinda Collins.  The most recent burial was in 1952.  No sign of the Relief Stark stone.  A photo of it is in the cemetery history.

Trustees decided to make a date soon to return with a weed whacker and cleaning supplies.

Carol has written an article for the VOCA newsletter. 

We discussed getting in touch with Nicole from VOCA about repairing a broken stone next year.  We also were thinking about asking her to come and douse for burial sites.  The question is, would we prefer her to look at a cemetery that we know the most about, to fill in the gaps (literally) or one that we don’t have much information about?
