BILLINGS CEMETERY

Cemetery Commissioner Present:

Nancy Detra, Eric Feindel, Eric Morse, Kyle Parker, Carol Schnabel

Selectboard Liaison Present:

Verandah Porche

Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 9:50 a.m.

Approval of Minutes:

The minutes from the September meeting were approved as submitted.

New Business:

The Billings Cemetery is in good condition.  It is especially beautiful at this time of year.

Kyle installed the sign- it looks great. 

We discussed the possible VOCA workshop at Elmhurst Cemetery next year.  We went through the information that was sent to us about materials and manpower needed.  Kyle is willing to get the tools together and see about getting materials donated.  Carol will call Charlie Marchant and see if he is willing to check out the site and assess what we might need and what we might be able to accomplish.  We will publicize in the Gazette once we know when we will need help. 

We decided to move the budget to the November meeting.

Carol mentioned a movie about the Vermont Forest Cemetery that will be shown at the Latchis.

There was a question about access to the Stark Cemetery.  Kyle will check with the owner before installing the sign there.

Old Business:

Kyle hopes to install the rest of the signs before winter.

Anson Baldwin has his crane back in operation.  Kyle will contact him about removing the Blanchard Cemetery tree before winter.

Discussions, Up-dates:

Eric has marked the corners and Abiatti is about to install cornerstones at two gravesites at Carpenter Cemetery.

The new plot at Maplehurst has been sold and the corners marked.

Cornerstones currently cost $397.50 which includes the tax.

Actions to be Taken:

Carol will get in touch with Charlie Marchant.

Verandah will contact the appropriate person about ordering cornerstones from Abiatti for the newly purchased gravesite.

Kyle will contact Anson Baldwin. 

Carol will reserve the Town Office for winter meetings. 

Adjournment:

At the end of the business meeting the commissioners did some light maintenance. 

The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 am.
