Guilford Free Library Trustees Meeting Minutes 12.16.24

Guilford Free Library Trustees In-Person and On-Line Meeting Guilford, Vermont

Monday, December 16th, 2024 – 6:30 pm

Trustees Present: Josh Nelson, Jeannette Tokarz, John Shaw, Nika Fotopulos, Sandra Cortes

Trustees Absent: Laura Lawson Tucker, Judith Serkin

Others present: Librarian, Amber Hunt

Meeting began at 6:37 pm

Trustees accepted November Meeting minutes.

Librarian’s Report – Amber

On Friday there is an early school release day, and the Library will be running a poetry event with Verandah, 10 children have signed up.

The trustees and Amber revised our yearly calendar for 2025.

Amber will send us an email draft of the town report by Tuesday.

Treasurer’s Report – John

The monthly report is that we are on track.

The annual appeal letter has raised $1950 so far.

Amber and John have continued working with Erika and Elly to organize and format the way the Library budget is presented in the Town report. The intention is to be more easily understandable. This Thursday’s budget workshop, John and Amber will be there to present the Library’s numbers.

ADA Building Committee – Jeannette & Judith

Amber did a great job applying for a grant of possibly $10-20,000. March is when we will know if it is granted. 

Jeannette reported on John Saccoccio’s proposal and quote for a first phase of leading community meetings and making preliminary designs.

Town Report ideas

Trustees will give their email feedback on Amber’s draft report by Friday.

New Business

Thank you notes are ready to go out for some Trustees and Friends. Amber will be in touch with those who need to pick up thank yous.

Idea for next year’s appeal letter: QR code and link to website donate page should be included on the envelope to help give other payment options.
