GUILFORD CEMETERY COMMISSION MEETING

THURSDAY 21 MAY 2026  9:30 a.m.

WEATHERHEAD CEMETERY

Cemetery Commissioners Present:

Nancy Detra, Eric Morse, Carol Schnabel

Absent:

Kyle Parker, Eric Feindel

Selectboard Liaison Present:

Sheila Morse

Call to Order:

After initially looking around the cemetery and placing new flags on graves of veterans, the meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m.

Recognition of Public:

We welcomed our new Selectboard Liaison, Sheila Morse.

Approval of Minutes:

The April minutes were approved as submitted.

Old Business:

Nancy and Eric will work on an article for the next Gazette.  Eric will get drone photos from Arbor Climb. 

The family of the person with the temporary marker at Blanchard Cemetery is looking into what to do.

Kyle estimates that it will cost between $15- $20 per sign to put 911 numbers on cemetery sign posts.  The commissioners approved this expenditure.

New Business:

Elly submitted the mowing contracts for each vendor and the commissioners approved. Sheila will talk to Elly about the billing cycle, we are recommending paying twice a year.

We distributed flags for cemeteries. 

We discussed looking for a new cemetery commissioner as Eric Feindel cannot continue.

We assessed the condition of the Weatherhead Cemetery.  It is beautiful.  It would be a good candidate for a work day as there are stones in need of repair.

We talked about scheduling a Saturday stone cleaning event.  Eric will check on some dates and get back to us. 

There are trees that have come down in Wilkins and Carpenter Cemeteries.  Kyle will take care of them.

The business meeting adjourned at 10:20 a.m. and the commissioners did some more site assessment after.
