Conservation Commission Minutes, 8.17.2023
Attending: Linda Hecker, Linda Lembke, Bill Jewell, Susan Bonthron, Anne Montgomery, Steve Soszynski, Bevan Quinn, Karen Murphy
Meeting called to order at 5:40 Pm.
Changes to Agenda: Discuss tree maintenance.
Minutes from June 15 approved unanimously.
The three trees planted in the spring are healthy. We did not need to water due to persistent rain this summer. Gator bags are stored in the shed as well as the deer guard. Other wire tree guards will be removed soon.
On motion we approved the printing of an additional 100 Guilford Road Maps.
Nature Workshop for August 19 from 10-12 at the BBCC. Three apps will be introduced, Merlin, Seek and iNaturalist with an indoor introduction and outside exploration planned.
NRI updates and approval:
We approved the introduction to the NRI report. Other details of the final report were discussed.
Wildlife crossing signage:
Approved the installation of two wildlife crossing signs on the Guilford Center Road.
Weeks Forest update:
We will decide on another work date at the next meeting in September.
Regional Conservation Commissions meeting date still uncertain.
Marli Rabinowitz has submitted her resignation from the board. She will be sorely missed as she has been a dedicated member of the GCC for many years.
Looking to the future, we will be looking at ways to recruit new board members.
Next regular meeting is September 21 at 5:30 PM in person.
