Guilford Conservation Commission Meeting Minutes, 6.20.2024

Meeting called to order at 5:35
No agenda changes.
On motion the minutes from May 16, 2024 were unanimously accepted.
Report to selectboard: Linda Hecker will attend the selectboard meeting on June 24 to put Josh Farr’s name forward as a new GCC commissioner and also report on the guidelines for the Conservation Fund.
Schedule of GCC Walks: The cancelled walk at Steve Soszynski’s land (rain) has been rescheduled for July 21st at 10 AM. The walk on the Roaring Brook Forest Block is tentatively scheduled for August 18 at 10 AM.
Summer Schedule:
Meet with the Planning Commission on July 24.
Work session on the Weeks Forest Carriage Trail on August 15.
Wildlife Corridor signage;
We decided to post Wildlife Crossing signs at either end of the Weatherhead Hollow Pond.
Updates:
Guilford Handbook: We had an extended conversation about what the GCC would like included in the handbook. We will be making recommendations to the committee soon.
Conservation Fund: Linda Hecker will present a summary of the guidelines to the selectboard.
Beech Leaf Disease: This disease has been identified in many places in town.
Other business: Karen announced a presentation by Jonathan Mingle on the publication of his new book called Gaslight: The Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the Fight for the Energy Future. Jonathan is an independent climate change journalist. It will be on July 9 at 7 PM at the BBCC.
