Guilford Conservation Commission Minutes July 16, 2026.
Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm
Present- Bill Jewell, Steve Soszynski, Linda Hecker, Alex Lacy, Anne Montgomery, Susan Bonthron
Guests present- Isabel Bowman, Conservation Specialist, and 2 Invasive Species Specialists from the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District (WCNRCD); Matt Stinchfield, Guilford Tree Warden.
Absent- Josh Farr, Katie Shea
Meeting Agenda adjusted to allow presentation by invited WCNRCD members and Tree Warden
Stiltgrass presentation- identification and management of emerging invasive grass which has been found in 2 areas of Guilford, and in surrounding towns. Commission asked to help educate the public.
Matt Stinchfield, Guilford Tree Warden, discussed potential collaboration with GCC regarding tree plantings, public safety through tree ranking, and yearly budget needs.
June Minutes approved and Action steps reviewed
GCC monthly walk,open to public, to occur July 18 along the Fall River watershed in east Guilford.
Gazette Article about our shared natural resources to appear in next issue, with future conservation articles highlighting forests, wildlife and water.
GCC voted unanimously to purchase an Extractigator tool for removal of invasive species along town roads and properties.
To be housed at the Guilford Free Library shed.
