The Highway Department is chiefly responsible for maintaining all of the Town’s roads, bridges, and culverts. Currently, the Town actively maintains approximately 78 miles of roads; 60 of which are gravel. The Highway Department operates seven trucks and seven pieces of large equipment; traveling over 100,000 fleet miles a year.

Jim Freeman is Guilford’s Road Commissioner and Foreman. The role of Road Commissioner is an office that is appointed each year by the Selectboard. The Road Foreman is an appointed position and reports to the Guilford Selectboard. Other members of the highway crew are Peter Fletcher, Ryan Snow and Bob Glass.
