Do any deputies live near Guilford? 35 Staff, 16 providing services. Policing is ¼ what we do. No dedicated Mental Health liaison currently. Bratt has 2, VSP has 1. Mark says they have a relationship with them. Model for on-call? Mark: It’s possible but we’d be building that car as we drive it. Compensation…On call hours would be billed, how?
Bill: Quickest responder will be FD and Rescue. Deputies can make the call.
Mark: can schedule based on call volume. If the revenue exists, they can do it. Chip: How specific can we get with the time a deputy is here? Mark says fairly specific.
Currently if I call 9-1-1, VSP responds. Would you come if you were on call? Talk about regional policing.
Shows STARS report for Jamaica. Jamaica & Londonderry share 40-hour deputy.
Kraig: would like to see more information include on the STARS report. Kraig – once the contract starts, residents can request adjustments. Jamisen: Liability insurance? Mark: WCSO carries all necessary insurance.
Jared: Interstate – Generally they don’t but if Jared called they would
- Old Business
Kraig: Spoke with Lt. French. State Police has an HCRS liaison assigned to the office. Majority of mental health calls go to the liaison. If a crime is being committed, a trooper is called. This liaison often knows the person or family so can facilitate response. French says GVFD and EMS get a mental health call, they should call VSP to activate liaison. Jared is currently doing that. Stage at station. Solve the communication problem, solve 95% of the problems between forces.
Use of force policy – CJTC Appendix D of training manual speaks about escalation and de-escalation in mental health calls.
Chip – add question to survey – are you happy with current situation?
Kraig wants to recommend more detailed reporting.
Chip: Wants to make sure we don’t run out of money too quick. Include provision for cap? Discussion about possible hours.
Insist on a marked car for visibility. Tara: Public education on role of FD, WCS.
Jared will get GVFD call data from Bevin. Gordon will work on getting call data from HCRS.
Jamisen: SB should re-run the survey after 6 months
Discussion: VSP response, State representative should work on.
