ALGIERS SCOPING STUDY CONSULTANT SELECTION COMMITTEE MEETING

Committee members IN ATTENDANCE: Erika Elder, Sheila Morse, Eric Morse, Jean Eastman, Colin Bratton (zoom), Bill Jewell (zoom), Barry Aleshnick (zoom)

  1. Dubois & King Scoping Study Proposal
    1. DISCUSSION: Sheila: The focus should be Traffic & Pedestrian safety not focus on cyclists. Also note that the Department of Environmental Conservation has offered to do a 30% design of a stormwater management project at no cost to the town. This information should be communicated to Dubois & King/ VTrans. 

Crashes: must address “crash history” – Colin mentions it has few to none recorded because there is a threshold before reporting to State Police. If it’s a fender bender it’s not reported. Sheila mentions Dave, who lives in that area and says there are crashes every other week. The reporting is inconsistent and should be noted and conveyed to Dubois & King as they should be able to get the data. 

Identify Land Use context to GPI

Natural resource review – draw on some of the maps by Jeff Nugent

Public Engagement – important for public to attend that are supporting

Schedule – ARPA money to be spent by 12.21.26..

  1. Recommendation to Selectboard
    1. MOTION: Eric moved to recommend the approval of the proposal from Dubois & King to the Selectboard. Jean seconded. The vote was by roll call. Six in favor. Sheila abstained.
  1. Next Steps
    Start process with Dubois & King with Selectboard approval

Project Manager is Erika Elder, will put together a steering committee

MOTION:  Erika moved to adjourn, Sheila seconded and all voted in favor, no objections, no abstensions. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 11:00am.
