GUILFORD CEMETERY COMMISSION MEETING
Thursday 20 July 2023 9:30 am Wilkins Cemetery

Cemetery Commissioners Present:
Nancy Detra, Kyle Parker, Verandah Porche

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 9:43 am

Approval of Minutes:
The minutes were approved as submitted.

New Business:
We found Wilkins cemetery in good condition. We trimmed and neatened borders.

We reviewed the latest VOCA newsletter, discussed contacting VOCA re workday at one of our cemeteries in spring? Where could volunteers best be used? Elmwood? Carpenter? We need to learn more about how to set up site for green burials. 

Discussed contacting Leslie Malouin, cub scout leader, about a scout work day to earn merit badges.

Selectboard presentation went well. General appreciation of sign and brochure projects.

Old Business:
Kyle proposed a good way to secure signs on posts to avoid theft and how to plant the poles.  We discussed where the signs should go- near the cemetery itself or near the road. We will decide for each cemetery individually. Could the sign work be part of a work day? How can others help? Have someone create a video?

Re cemetery maintenance: Engage Rory about scheduling.

Do we need to look for more commissioners? Kyle interested in shadowing Eric to learn about procedures, mapping.

Re Carpenter Cemetery tree- Anson Baldwin will coordinate with GMP on taking down tree because of proximity to wires.

Actions to be Taken:
Nancy will contact the forest cemetery people for information.on green burials.

Kyle still wanting to follow Eric
