Conservation Commission Agenda 4.16.26
Conservation Commission Agenda March 2026 The Guilford Conservation Commission will NOT hold a meeting on the third Thursday of March, 2026, which is March 19. Instead, we attended or sponsored events related to our work.
On March 12 several members attended a meeting in Bellows Falls of regional Conservation Commissions organized by the Windham Regional Commission. We learned about Act 59, The Community Resilience and Biodiversity Protection Act, sometimes known as 30×30 and 50 by 50, which is designed to inventory conserved land across Vermont and set goals for conservation over the next 25 years. Guilford citizens can learn about and comment on the current draft Action Plan at https://vermontconservationplan.com/
Our next event will be a presentation on March 17 by Denise Burchsted, river scientist. Burchsted has studied the way beaver dams and log jams shape rivers and streams, and helps us imagine how different our rivers would have been pre-European colonization. Dr Burchsted has mapped the formerly beavery parts of Guilford. The public is warmly invited to attend at Broad Brook Community Center, March 17, 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
Our next regular meeting will be on April 16, 2026, at the Town Office and online.
