Guilford Conservation Commisson Minutes June 18, 2026
Meeting called to order 5:35pm
Present- Alex Lacy, Linda Hecker, Bill Jewell, Josh Farr, Anne Montgomery, Steve Soszynski Absent- Katie Shea, Susan Bonthron
May minutes approved as circulated and May Action Steps reviewed
Weeks Forest Trail- maintenance to include mowing a wider path in certain areas, and cutting back the maple tree which fell across the trail. Steve S to complete work between July 1 and Nov 1.
Tree Warden request to amend a reimbursement (from $320 to $146.30) was approved. GCC plans to work more collaboratively with Tree Warden, and suggests he work with SB regarding his budget.
Next GCC walk Saturday, July 18 at 9:30 am. LInda Hay’s property on Coolidge Hwy. Announcement on FPF.
Next GCC Meeting (7/16/26) to include talk on Japanese Stiltgrass, an emerging invasive in Guilford, and talk about projects with Tree Warden
Discussion regarding a GCC article for the August issue of the Guilford Gazette. Susan B and Bill J to collaborate. The Conservation Commission’s role is to act as an impartial voice for information about our shared natural heritage, and the benefits of working as community.
Wildlife Crossing Signs- discussed other types of signage to remind motorists about seasonal wildlife movements. Request to establish a tool lending library was discussed. To consider purchasing an extractigator for invasive control.
