I. Recognition of Public:

II. Call to Order:

III. New Additions:

  • Can the Recreation Commission continue to exist?
  • The commission is currently hindered by having a dwindling and insufficient number of commissioners.
  • Kim Frost suggested attending an upcoming Selectboard meeting to try to recruit more commissioners from the community. She will also look into the process for de-commissioning if it is not possible to continue the work.
  • Meghan, Ragan and Taylor can attend Selectboard meeting 9/28.

IV. Old Business:

– Existing Groups

– Yoga: continues, and is thriving.

– Fiber Arts: continues, and is thriving.

– ASL:  Kelsy can resume facilitation starting in November. Meghan will reach out to the participants to see if anyone can host before then.

– Spanish: Uriel and Martina can host starting in November. Meghan will reach out to the participants to see if anyone can host prior to then.

– Badminton: had a good season, which is now concluded.

– Walking Groups: continue on Saturday mornings at 0730 at the covered bridge.

– Reviewing Talent Show: Per Uriel– we had 11 acts and were able to raise a total of $783 that was  split and given to the Food Hub and Guilford Cares. There were many great donations for the silent auction. About  $493 was raised by the silent auction and the rest were donations at the door. There were at least 50 people in attendance and folks were really excited to see this event happen again. Considerations for next year: it would be helpful in the future to work with a collaborator and split the duty of coordinating talent vs coordinating silent auction donations. Funds raised could also be to create a scholarship or new recreational infrastructure. Immediate follow-up: collective decision process around what organizations or projects receive funds.

V. New Business:

  • Recruiting new commissioners: see above
  • Date and time for future meetings: not discussed
  • Trunk or Treat: not going to happen, might try to assist the library (Meghan will reach out to see if collaborative needs exist). Taylor has reached out to the library to inquire
  • No plans for Bike Night this year

VI. Adjournment: at 5:19 pm
