Windham County Sheriff Services Contract Advisory Committee

The Guilford Selectboard seeks to appoint an advisory committee of five residents. The Windham County Sheriff Services Contract Advisory Committee will develop a recommendation for a new policing services contract for the town.

WCSSCA Advisory Committee Charge

The purpose of the Windham County Sheriff Services Contract Advisory Committee (WCSSCA) is to advise the Guilford Selectboard about an annual plan for policing services to be contracted from the Windham County Sheriff’s Office.

The need for policing in the community has been a multi-year conversation. At the 2024 Town Meeting, Guilford citizens voted to appropriate up to $68,000 for a policing services contract in FY2025 (beginning July 1, 2024). The Advisory Committee will assist the Selectboard as it seeks to secure the strongest contract available.

The specific goals of the Committee’s work: 

  • To consider and represent various community viewpoints 
  • To gather and review community needs
  • To work with the Windham County Sheriff’s Office to determine an appropriate menu of services
  • To present a final recommendation to the Selectboard including a detailed budget for  recommended services. Budget limit: $68,000.

The committee’s work is subject to Vermont Open Meeting Law.

Preferred Timeline: The Committee’s recommendations are due to the Selectboard by Tue, June 11, 4 p.m. Deadline for Committee membership nominations/applications May 10, 5 p.m.
